DIGITAL PRINTING www.images-magazine.com 72 images MARCH 2018 Ghost: Ghost Sublime Toner Ghost is the company behind Ghost White Toner, a toner cartridge that replaces the black cartridge in an ordinary laser printer to transform it into a white toner printer that can be used in combination with no- weeding transfer papers. Building on this success, in 2018 Ghost has launched the Ghost Sublime Toner. This new toner, which is again created for use in laser printers, allows decorators to print straight onto normal copy paper, which is then heat pressed onto the chosen substrate to create a vibrant dye sublimation print. It can be used on a wide range of substrates, such as polyester-based textiles and coated products such as mugs, bottles, keyrings and badges. The company says the entire process takes just 60 seconds from screen to product, needs no specialist software or transfer papers, and promises no blocked print heads. Ghost offers packages that include HP laser printers for use with its toners: customers can switch between Ghost White Toner, Ghost Sublime Toner and CMYK toner. www.ghost-white-toner.com [Right] A dye-sublimation print created using the Ghost Sublime Toner GS UK: Brother GTX direct-to- garment printer “The GTX is the latest generation of DTG printer from Brother and is an ideal successor to the Brother GT-3 printer,” advises GS UK. “It offers new, industrial print heads developed by Brother, containing more nozzles than the GT-3. This enables high quality prints at 1,200 x 1,200dpi to be produced in a single pass at a speed ideal for mass production. It is typically two to three times faster than the Brother GT-381.” The white print head is placed behind the CMYK head, so the design is fully printed when the platen exits the machine. The print driver can be set to pause for a specified length of time between the lay-down of the white underbase and colours to allow for the printing of ‘difficult’ fabrics that absorb more ink. “In addition there is far less maintenance and downtime due to the new white ink circulation system which keeps the white ink in suspension, and a new wet capping station helps eliminate the ink from drying on the bottom of the nozzle plate,” adds GS UK.
