INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 16 images MARCH 2018 Stormtech eliminates PFCs from its new collection All of Stormtech’s new water- repellent products in its spring 2018 collection are free from perfluorinated carbons (PFCs). “We partnered with fabric mills and garment factories to find alternative, breathable water repellent treatments that are PFC-free without sacrificing performance of our materials,” said Blake Annable, president and CEO of Stormtech. “Together with our suppliers, we have selected the best fluorocarbon-free technologies that have proven reliable on our materials.” Stormtech reports that recent studies have shown that PFCs, which are used for their water- repellent properties, have the potential to cause environmental and health issues. All of the outerwear fabrics in Stormtech’s autumn collection will be PFC- free, and by 2020, the entire collection will be PFC-free. The new PFC-free, water- repellent products in the spring 2018 collection include the Ozone Lightweight Shell & Vest, Tradesmith Jacket, Nautilus Insulated Jacket & Vest, Nautilus Quilted Jacket, Octane Lightweight Shell, Neutrino Shell, Warrior Training Jacket & Pant and Torrent Snap Fit Poncho. www.stormtech.eu The Neutrino Shell from Stormtech is PFC-free Rowlinson Knitwear designs competition for Stockport College art students Rowlinson Knitwear launched its first ‘Art in the Workplace’ competition in February. Art students at Stockport College, the knitwear company’s local college, have been challenged to create original art pieces that reflect Rowlinson’s employee ownership culture; values of care, trust and be better; and business purpose of ‘fulfilling potential’. “We get lots of enquiries to engage students in external projects and cannot possibly say yes to all of them,” commented Gary Spicer, head of the Art School at Stockport College. “What attracted me to this project was that the promotion of Rowlinson’s core values was central to the creative brief. As a values-focused art school, it feels like a good fit for us and our ethos”. The competition is open to the college’s higher education graphics, illustration and photography students. The winning artwork, which will be judged by five Rowlinson employees, will be announced in mid-March, and will be displayed in the manufacturer’s new headquarters at Discovery Park, Stockport. www.rowlinson-knitwear.com Rowlinson has invited students from Stockport College (pictured) to take part in its ‘Art in the Workplace’ competition Cottonridge introduces new cords for CR01 Hoody Cottonridge has announced that it will be boosting stocks of its popular CR01 Hoody this summer and introducing new cords.
