Sharon Lee raises more than £2,000 for Funding Neuro To celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2017, headwear supplier Sharon Lee spent the year raising money for Funding Neuro, a charity that aims to accelerate the development of new treatments for many of the most serious neurological conditions. Sharon Lee raised £2,035 by donating £1 from each order last year. “Funding Neuro also has a personal connection with me as I have seen first-hand what it has done for friends of mine, and their daughter Daisy,” said managing director Toby Pache. “Daisy sadly passed away at the age of six in 2014. Quite simply devastating. Sharon Lee will continue to support them in whichever way we can in the future.” www.fundingneuro.com www.sharonleeltd.co.uk INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 06 images FEBRUARY 2018 Stormtech introduces Spring 2018 collection Stormtech has launched its Spring 2018 collection, which the brand says is “active and adaptable apparel that is at ease in the elements”. Included in the range are the Octane Lightweight Shell (NW-1), a showerproof shell with an articulated fit, and the Nautilus Quilted Jacket (QX-1), that features elasticised cuffs and a full- length, internal stormflap. www.stormtech.eu Shima Seiki teams up with Resolute Knitwear machinery company Shima Seiki has selected Resolute DTG to sell and provide technical support for its pigment ink textile printer, the SIP-160F3. The new relationship will see Resolute DTG acting as a non-exclusive sales and service agent for Shima Seiki Europe. “Our reputation lies in the knitwear industry, where everyone knows us and we’re held in high regard,” explained Simon Cross of Shima Seiki Europe. “Now we’ve launched a pigment machine that is targeted at the garment decoration industry, where we’re an unknown brand. Resolute offered an all-in-one solution of sales and service. They don’t have a high-end DTG solution so they’re excited by this machine that not only addresses T-shirts and apparel, but other media such as towels, knitwear and socks.” Colin Marsh, managing director, Resolute Print Groups, commented: “We are very excited to be working with Shima Seiki and developing the textile printing market for the SIP. With two models, one going up to a print area of 2.4m x 1.6m, this high-end system completes our DTG portfolio. “Until now we supplied into the entry level and middle market, losing out to high-end expensive systems as our customers’ businesses grew along with their production demands. The SIP allows us to continue business with our clients who require high volume printing. Resolute are developing a pre-load system allowing textiles to be loaded and unloaded as the printer is in motion. We will also tap into print processes that the SIP is more than capable of but currently not producing. We have designed a system to image large stencils for screen printing for specialist applications.” www.shimaseiki.co.uk www.resoluteink.co.uk Colin Marsh (left), managing director of Resolute DTG, with Simon Cross of Shima Seiki Europe The new Nautilus Quilted Jacket from Stormtech Kornit promises reduced ink costs with new Avalanche printers Kornit Digital announced the launch of the Avalanche HD6 and Avalanche HDK DTG printers on 17 January 2018. The Avalanche HD6, based on the Avalanche Hexa, is reported to reduce ink consumption by up to 30% compared to the current R-Series version, and up to 46% compared to the previous non R-Series versions of the Avalanche Hexa. The Avalanche HDK is an HD version of the Avalanche 1000. “The new cost per print levels make the new HD systems an attractive choice for screen printers for print runs between one and 500 copies,” said Kornit. The new systems use four-litre bulk ink containers of NeoPigment Rapid ink, which has been specifically developed for Kornit’s HD technology. It is said to offer an improved gamut for spot and brand colour matching, increased opacity and saturation of the white ink, as well as improved hand feel. “The print quality is further enhanced by ColorGate’s Professional RIP solution, adding advanced colour management and screening capabilities, improved white base creation and pre-defined colour libraries for ultimate colour matching,” continued the company. The Avalanche HD6 includes six colour channels – CMYK, red and green – plus white, and includes a patented architecture of dual bridge and dual pallet that is designed for use in an industrial production environment. It will be available in the first quarter of 2018, with the HDK available in the second quarter. The new machines can be seen at TecStyle Visions show in Stuttgart, Germany, 15-17 February. www.kornit.com The new Avalanche HD6 from Kornit
