PRINTING INKS www.images-magazine.com 84 images NOVEMBER 2018 Brother: Innobella Textile Inks According to Brother, its Innobella Textile Inks for the Brother GTX DTG printer print “with greater vibrancy and a larger colour range than ever before“. The company reports that the inks produce prints that stand up to multiple washes and maintain their integrity, adding: “All of this with the convenience and dependability Brother is known for.“ The inks also promise prints with improved handfeel and brighter colours. “Our newly formulated inks actually provide a bolder, wider range of colours that make it simple to reproduce designs more accurately and with a visible increase in vibrancy,“ says Brother. The company continues: “Designs printed with Innobella Textile Inks are meant to be worn, not worn out. The special formulation combats the chemicals found in typical laundry detergent and withstands the rubbing and scraping of zippers and buttons. The result is a print that looks brighter and lasts longer. Proof can be found in the AATCC wash tests, where our inks score 4.0 or higher on every test. “Safety must always be top of mind with any product, and with Innobella Textile inks you can be confident that your products are safe.“ www.brother-industrial.com Dalesway Print Technology: Pantone Ink Mixing Systems “It can be a tad frustrating when a client requests an obscure print colour that just doesn’t match anything that you have available ‘off the shelf‘. Minimum order quantities invariably mean you end up stuck with that special order colour for a very long time after finishing the job,“ notes Dalesway. Dalesway explains that investing in a Pantone ink mixing system gives printers the ability to offer their clients any colour of their choice without the need to order more than is necessary to finish the job. “It also means that when you raise a small surcharge for that custom colour, the profit adds to your bottom line immediately,“ says Dalesway. “Any colour, any quantity of shirts – what a selling point!“ The company continues: “Lancer offers some of the safest screen printing inks in the industry and the range includes a Pantone ink mixing system in both standard phthalate-free plastisol (Excalibur) and a PVC-free version (Evolution) that is approved by Nike and safety tested to Oeko-Tex-100 standards. With an ink mixing system from Lancer International, you have the ultimate ink flexibility for your clients.“ www.dalesway.co.uk Screen Print World: White Screen Printing Inks Screen Print World, previously known as Dave Roper, says that white is the most important ink for any textile printer. With this in mind, the company has created the following guide to the white screen printing inks its provides. Flash whites (both plastisol and water-based) are made for printing onto cotton, polyester and other cotton blends. They are extremely easy to print with and produce a nice bright white. They are also perfect for bases when printing onto darker garments. When printing white-only designs, the print-flash- print method is used. Low-bleed whites are designed to be used on polyester and other fabrics where dyes may bleed out of the garment and stain the white ink during curing. Low temperature whites allow the ink on the garment to be cured at a lower temperature, making them ideal for use on heat-sensitive garments that could be adversely affected by being passed through a dryer at 160°C. CMX (colour mixing whites) are part of a colour mixing system and are intended to be mixed with other CMX inks for colour matching purposes. Colour mixing inks are slightly less opaque in order to better mix and match Pantone colours. Flexible whites are used for printing onto garments that have lots of stretch: their flexibility allows them to stretch with the garment once the ink is cured. www.screenprintworld.co.uk Dalesway recommends using Pantone ink mixing systems such as that from Lancer The Innobella inks are designed for the Brother GTX DTG printer This T-shirt from the brand Ob1 is printed with plastisol flash white extra
