Magna Colours acquires goodwill and inventory of LJ Specialities Magna Colours has reported that it has acquired the goodwill and inventory of LJ Specialities, which supplies pigments, dyestuffs and speciality chemicals. This follows a recent announcement on the closure of LJ Specialities by owner Plastribution, a polymer distributor. “The LJ team led by Andy Lee will transition to employment with Magna Colours and will immediately support the transition to Magna,“ says the company. “The transition will come with challenges and opportunities for Magna, the LJ employees, customers and suppliers, but with goodwill and efforts on all sides a smooth continuation of service will be created.“ All previous orders placed with LJ will be supplied from LJ and managed with no change with respect to delivery or payment, says Magna. All future orders will be managed and delivered from Magna Colours, which is based in Barnsley. Existing contact details for the LJ team will remain the same. The Magna Colours chairman, Tom Abbey, commented: “The complimentary skills of the Magna and LJ teams gives us a superb opportunity for future growth and to serve both customer groups with additional services.” www.magnacolours.com www.images-magazine.com NOVEMBER 2018 images 07 INDUSTRY NEWS Ronald Britton creates biodegradable glitter for print Ronald Britton has created Deco Bioglitter, a biodegradable, 92% plastic-free glitter designed for use in the print and fabric industry. “Traditional glitter is a microplastic and can be potentially harmful in the environment; as a result there has been a rising consumer pressure for products to use eco friendly glitter alternatives,“ explains the company. “Deco Bioglitter is the world’s first glitter proven to degrade in the natural environment, such as soil, rivers, and lakes. Based on a plant material – cellulose rather than plastic – the product has been specially formulated to perform in coating and printing applications.“ The product complies with EN71 regulations and is said to be safe to be used on children‘s products and clothing; it is also expected to meet the requirement of Oeko-Tex. The product has recently undergone testing by the independent testing organisation OWS Belgium, which revealed it has excellent biodegradability in fresh water environments with the vast majority of the biodegradable content in Bioglitter biodegrading in just four weeks, adds the company. The team‘s ultimate goal is to create a 100% plastic-free glitter. www.bioglitter.com Deco Bioglitter is made from cellulose rather than plastic Brother expands its headquarters The Brother headquarters for industrial products for Europe, Africa and the Middle East is being expanded with the construction of a new office unit that will open in Emmerich, Germany, in 2019.
