DTG PRINTING www.images-magazine.com 66 images SEPTEMBER 2018 Adelco: Kornit HD Technology Adelco reports that it is one of the first Kornit partners worldwide and the only UK supplier to have ordered a new Kornit HD system to undertake trials and demonstrations, at its Hampshire showroom. The new HD technology combined with a new Kornit Rapid Ink Set is said to achieve a flatter white layer and more vibrant colours, while using significantly less ink. Mark Smith, managing director of Adelco, commented: “Kornit introduced recirculating ink technology to reduce waste and therefore print costs almost two years ago with the R-Series printers. The new HD system takes these savings a step further and customers are confirming additional print cost savings of 30% to 40% whilst improving brightness, print quality and hand feel. These lower print costs expand digital garment printing into markets usually only justifiable using traditional screen print.“ Kornit launched the HD technology with the Avalanche HD6 machine in February this year; already there are nine systems installed in the UK, as well as two Kornit Vulcans that feature the same HD technology. “This shows that UK printers are already seeing the benefits of lower print costs and are therefore increasing their market capabilities,“ adds Mark. Towards the end of 2018, Kornit will introduce HD technology on its Storm machine platform and Adelco will shortly be installing such a system in its UK showroom. “This will enable UK printers to test and trial HD printing using their own print files on their own garments and see the exact print cost of each item,“ explains Mark. “We also introduced our new Procure dryer at Fespa in May, which provides unprecedented curing ability and unique features that have resulted in a record dryer order book for Adelco.” www.adelco.co.uk The Avalanche HD6 printer is available from Adelco The M&R DS-4000 Digital Squeegee is supplied by Dave Roper Dave Roper: M&R DS-4000 Digital Squeegee “M&R’s DS-4000 Digital Squeegee is setting the standard for hybrid printing,“ says Dave Roper. “Printing at production rates of 400+ prints per hour, it bridges the gap between DTG printing and screen printing. Since the Digital Squeegee prints on top of a screen printed underbase, a wide array of fabrics can now be printed digitally, opening the door to new market trends and cost-effective high-end digital textile imaging.“ The company reports that by using a screen printed underbase, the need for pre-treatment is eliminated, as is the need for the more expensive digital white underbase inks. Small and mid-size print runs are cost-effective using the DS- 4000 Digital Squeegee, says Dave Roper, as the time, labour and costs associated with digital printing alone are reduced. Digital Squeegee inks can be cured in conventional gas dryers, such as M&R’s Sprint 3000, Sprint 3000 D and Sprint 3000 DHZ. www.daveroper.co.uk
