AskAdy... Adrian Burton of South East Workwear runs the popular AskAdy site, which hosts independent reviews of workwear garments. This month, he’s discussing women’s workwear During the 25 years I’ve been running a family workwear company, I’m embarrassed to say that up until very recently, not many workwear manufacturers seem to have devoted much time to producing decent, functional and stylish workwear for women. The world, however, has finally got its backside in gear and is now producing fantastic women’s work garments. I am not talking about officewear, fitted polo shirts or trousers – I am talking about serious industrial workwear for all you trade persons out there. When Pulsar asked me to look at some of its new high visibility workwear, I was really pleased that the company had sent me its new Ladies Storm Coat (P704). On closer inspection of this jacket, I was amazed how good it was; the quality of this product far exceeded my expectations. I have recently looked at some European high visibility products that carry a hefty price tag, but Pulsar has produced a premium brand product at a fraction of the cost, without any compromise on the quality. I would go so far as to say that Pulsar has really raised the bar with its products. The jacket has the official 3M Scotchlite Reflective Tape, a quality YKK zip, double storm flap to keep out the driving rain, an optional jacket liner and a detachable hood, to name just a few features. The jacket also has a duty wash cycle of 25 washes at 40°C. Printing the jacket is also no problem: there is plenty of area on the chest and rear to print your customer’s logo, which makes this a great option for when going out to quote a uniform contract. Pulsar hasn’t stopped at the ladies’ fitted jacket; it also has high visibility polo shirts (long and short sleeve) and trousers with a range of waist sizes and three leg lengths for women, and they all meet either the EN ISO 20471 Class 3 or 2 standard. As Pulsar offers a full matching range for men and women, it’ll be no problem kitting out an entire workforce. www.askady.com The Pulsar Ladies Storm Coat INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 08 images MAY 2018 WORKWEAR REVIEW To see AskAdy’s video reviews, visit www.images-magazine.com Nike named as world’smost valuable apparel brand Despite a significant drop in brand value – down 12% to $28 billion – Nike held on to its position as the world’s most valuable apparel brand in 2017, according to a new report by brand valuation and strategy consultancy, Brand Finance. The report suggests that fourth placed Adidas (up 41% to $14.3 billion) played a key role in Nike’s falling value, with the German-based apparel brand growing rapidly across both sporting and casual categories. The brand value of second placed H&M (down 1% to $19 billion) remained relatively stagnant over the last year, with a strongly performing third placed Zara (up 21% to $17.5 billion) significantly narrowing the gap between the two brands. www.brandfinance.com Nike’s brand value is calculated at $28 billion New X-Rite president Pantone and X-Rite, a colour science and technology company, appointed Ondrej Kruk as president in March 2018.
