INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 10 images MAY 2018 T he three-dimensional quality of the butterflies on this T-shirt by designer Tyesha Halls of H2NYC makes them look as though they are about to fly off the garment. The shirt was printed by New York- based USA Tees, and despite first appearances it is a 2D screen print: the 3D ‘floating’ effect is entirely down to the design and printing. Tyesha explains: “The inspiration originally was based on a Valentine’s Day theme, but instead of the typical hearts, I chose red rose petals. It allowed the design to now transition into a spring concept based on the colours I chose and with adding butterflies to the image.” The original image comprised a complex combination of multiple colours and tones, which USA Tees rendered as a five-colour- separation using Adobe Photoshop. The design was printed using a Vastex manual press with plastisol inks from Union Ink onto a Gildan 100% cotton T-shirt. Prior to the management buyout, MHM had been owned by Italian company Arioli Group for seven years. Thomas, who has been with MHM since 1993 and CEO since 2012, reported that in the past three years turnover has doubled and employment across the company has increased by 30%. “I know the company inside out,” he explained. “Two months ago there was a chance to arrange a management buyout: it seemed the next logical step to shift MHM into a new area. The management team, together with strategic investor Loser Holding, have great plans for the future.” He added that MHM will continue to work closely with Arioli on the digital side as the company provides the digital base for the MHM IQ Digital machine. “I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Carmelo Zocco, owner of Arioli Group, for his support, and also our customers and MHM agents and dealers, and of course the team at MHM.” John Potter, MD of UK distributors MHM Direct GB, added: “We’re really excited by the opportunities this buyout offers our customers in terms of both product development and even higher levels of service.” www.mhmscreenprinting.com Impression Technology to show QM8 at Fespa Impression Technology PTY will be showing its latest printer, the QM8, on stand C50 in hall 2.1 at Fespa later this month in Berlin.
