INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 10 images MARCH 2019 Amaya receives ‘Best Customer Experience‘ award Kornit recently held its annual ‘Kick off‘ meeting in Jerusalem for its European distributors, at which Amaya Sales UK was given the ‘Best Customer Experience‘ award, reported Amaya‘s director, Peter Wright. “It was great to receive a reward that recognises Amaya’s core ethos of supporting and working with our customers for the best end result,“ he said. “It’s a reflection on the whole Amaya team of whom I’m very proud, and recognises Amaya’s core principle of putting the customer first.“ The event also included demonstrations of the new Kornit Atlas DTG system. www.amayauk.com DECORATED PRODUCT OF THE MONTH Bravado, Universal Music Group‘s merch company, has unveiled a new capsule collection between boot manufacturer Dr Martens and Sex Pistols, the anarchic punk rock band, whose legacy remains strong 40 years after it released its sole album, Never Mind the Bollocks. “Inspired by the iconic album artwork designed by Jamie Reid in collaboration with the Sex Pistols, the styles are emblazoned with lyrics from the song Pretty Vacant,“ explains Bravado. “The black and white colouring of these Docs is uplifted by neon pink and vibrant yellow – giving raucous expression to the everlasting rebel attitude. The Dr Martens x Sex Pistols collection includes the 1490 10- eye boot, 1460 eight-eye boot, 1925 steel toe, Pressler canvas lace-up and Toomey canvas slip-on, as well as clothing and accessories.“ Jim Nicol, managing director of TheMagicTouch (TMT), explains that TMT used to have a transfer system set up at the original Dr Martens factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. “For many years our process was used for all full-colour designs and short-run limited edition ranges. Using our CPM transfer paper printed using toner- based copiers and printers, the designs were heat pressed directly onto the leather panels and then the boots were then made in production.“ He recommends that decorators who want to print on boots and other items made of leather should opt for CPM transfer paper with a TMT/Oki printer in either CMYK or CMY + White.
