WIDE FORMAT DIGITAL PRINTING www.images-magazine.com 44 images JULY 2018 Take awalk on the wide side Whether you’re dipping a first toe into the wide format market or want to move your dye sub production up a level, our showcase of wide format printers reviews the current options for all requirements I-Sub: EFI Reggiani ReNoir Flexy The EFI Reggiani ReNoir Flexy is a new, direct-to-cotton/ synthetic fabric printer that uses pigment inks and doesn’t require any pre-treatment, reports i-Sub. “The new Flexy represents a real breakthrough in technology,” it adds. The new type of pigment ink used with the printer allows fabric to be printed without any pre-coating; simply load rolls of coated or uncoated fabric and print direct, then heat cure in-line through an industrial dryer. Some of the fabrics that can be used include cotton, viscose and polyester, and they can be woven or knitted. There is no need for steaming or washing, and i-Sub says the inks are eco-friendly, water-based inks that have been commercially tested for wet/dry wash- and rub-fastness. The machine promises an industrial production speed of up to 190m2/hr, along with low cost ink, and ink recycling technology that i-Sub says recovers 95% of wasted ink, leading to a further reduction in the running costs. www.i-sub.co.uk The Novus Textura 1800 large format, automatic, dye sublimation printer available from Dave Roper was launched late last year, following M&R’s acquisition of Novus Imaging. The Textura 1800 is designed for unattended roll-to-roll, high-speed transfer dye sublimation printing in four-colour CMYK and true greyscale at resolutions up to 1,200 dpi. It is, says Dave Roper, capable of printing substrates 1.8m wide at speeds of up to 140m2/hr, and at sustained production speeds of up to 120m2/hr. The Textura 1800 incorporates an anti-crash print head carriage with a self-cleaning, self-wiping system. It also includes an integrated unwind/ rewind mechanism designed to hold jumbo-size paper rolls up to 200kg, and its industrial media-handling system allows long print runs to proceed unattended. The multi- section heating system is said to provide exceptional drying capacity on all substrate thicknesses, while independent top, front and bottom dryers are individually controlled to ensure dry paper at high speeds. “Dye sublimation transfer is the optimal choice for customising polyester apparel, sportswear fabrics, cut-and- sew fabrics, bags and T-shirts, and M&R’s Novus Textura 1800 sets a new standard for price, performance and low ink costs,” concludes Dave Roper. www.daveroper.co.uk Dave Roper: Textura 1800 Large Format Automatic Dye Sublimation Printer The Textura 1800 at Fespa Berlin in May this year The new EFI Reggiani ReNoir Flexy from i-Sub
