Graeme brings 30 years’ experience of the screen and digital print industry to his new role, having previously worked in design, production, sales and operational management positions. Prior to joining Fespa, Graeme was the sales and operations director at Vektor for two years. He became a director of Fespa UK Association in 2015 and has been a judge for the Fespa Awards since 2016. Graeme will provide technical expertise on screen and digital printing on behalf of Fespa and its stakeholders. This will include managing and developing technical content in the form of workshops, guidance documents and research to support Fespa and its national associations and their members, plus support with the feature content for Fespa’s global event portfolio. Sean Holt, executive director at Fespa, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Graeme to Fespa. A key benefit for our members is access to technical support in the form of guides, presentations and courses, and Graeme’s expertise will be instrumental in developing this proposition and reflect our continued evolution of technology and speciality printing.” www.fespa.com Rowlinson Knitwear accredited as Living Wage employer Rowlinson Knitwear has become the first manufacturer supplying the independent schoolwear market to be accredited as a Living Wage employer. Rowlinson’s commitment will see everyone working at the company, whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff, receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.75 in the UK or £10.20 for those in London. Both rates are higher than the statutory minimum Rowlinson’s managing director Donald Moore CHANGING FACES Schulze launches two new presses Schulze has introduced two new heat presses: the Schulze Swing Duo SX Pneu and the Schulze E-Powerpress. The Swing Duo SX Pneu is an automatic opening and swivelling transfer press that includes a touch display and a powerful stepper motor, which allows for fast and precise movements of the press, says the company. One-handed or foot switch operation is possible thanks to the safety frame, and the large space beneath the base plate means that wide textiles such as backpacks can be put on the plate. The E-Powerpress is the first purely electrically operated transfer press from Schulze with two work surfaces. The company says it has all the advantages of a conventionally pneumatically operated press – it opens and closes automatically – but is noiseless and no compressor is required. www.schulzeshop.com The new E-Powerpress from Schulze wage for over 25s of £7.50 per hour, which was introduced in April 2017. Donald Moore, managing director, Rowlinson Knitwear, says, “As a values- led and employee-owned organisation, we are both honour-bound and proud to commit to ensuring all our staff and contractors benefit from fair rates of pay to meet the rising cost of living. As a growing business, motivating, retaining and attracting our talent is increasingly important. We also believe that a team that receives a good reward and great working conditions is in a strong position to provide an exceptional experience to our customers. We are delighted to become part of a network of over 3,900 accredited UK employers and will encourage our colleagues, partners and friends in the employee-owned and textiles communities to join us in making their Living Wage commitment.” Living Wage Foundation director Katherine Chapman said: “We are delighted to welcome Rowlinson Knitwear to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer. All Living Wage employers, like Rowlinson, choose to become accredited because they believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.” www.rowlinson-knitwear.com New faces at Newtech roadshows Visitors to the Newtech roadshow in Sheffield in March saw a number of new companies join the line-up, including Yoko International, Printlogic and AD Colour.
