The Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW) will be launched in June 2018 and aims to bring together professionals from across the different sectors and from around the world in order to establish a cohesive voice for the industry. "Dedicated exclusively to the trade, it will push the agenda of the many sectors within it and strengthen our influence in discussions and key decisions," commented PCIAW. John Miln, former CEO of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), has been appointed as chairman, while Yvette Ashby, MD of The Professional Clothing director-e, show and awards, will act as chief executive officer. “An association dedicated to the professional clothing industry has been long awaited; there has already been a very significant amount of interest from key organisations in the UK and internationally who are highly supportive of the creation and development of the PCIAW," said John. "With the support of our members, my focus is on quickly establishing the association as a key voice for the industry, representing their views and tackling the issues most important to the sustainability and development of their businesses and the professionals within it." He continued: "The creation of a network and platform for members will also provide help, guidance and support in achieving their objectives through peer to peer relationships and opportunities developed by the PCIAW, all of which will serve to highlight the depth and importance of the industry to the UK economy. As a multi-sector industry, I believe we will benefit from the unification which will be brought about by the association." www.pciaw.org Blonde bombshell Kasey gets all glammed- up in readiness for a local charity event Polishing the floor is exhausting work Richard Quinn receives inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at London Fashion Week Fashion designer Richard Quinn was presented with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design from the Queen at the end of his London Fashion Week catwalk in February. It was the first time Her Majesty had been to London Fashion Week. From her front row seat she was treated to Richard's collection, which was a mix of vibrant florals and patterns on velvet, linen, Lycra, foil and pleated chenille. The collection was printed in Richard’s London studio using Epson digital printers on fabric supplied by Premier Textiles. Customised boots, shoes, bags and full-length gloves completed the look, with motorbike helmets wrapped to match by Slam Signs, again using Epson technology. The new Award, which was initiated in recognition of the role the fashion industry plays in society and diplomacy, will be awarded annually to an emerging British fashion designer of womenswear, menswear or accessories who shows exceptional talent and originality, while demonstrating value to the community or strong sustainable policies. www.richardquinn.london Richard Quinn receives the Inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design from the Queen, with British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush, right ©Getty Images PRINT SHOP POOCHES #29 Kasey Whether it’s pedigree pups or mangy mutts, decorators’ dogs are valued members of staff at embroidery and print shops from Barking to Furness.
