A family-owned business, Fuchs has been manufacturing heat presses in Bavaria, Germany, since the 1960s and offers manual, semi-automatic and pneumatic models. Users can choose from a variety of presses, such as clam presses, swing presses, fusing presses, sliding table presses, membrane presses, large format presses and automatic presses with one or two stations. Also available from GPS, Oki has launched its new Pro 9541WT machine in the UK, which is said to support a sheet size of 13” x 19”. The five-station digital transfer printer is designed for the production of customised garments, hard surface goods and more. “What makes this different to other printers is that it will not only print CMYK + white toner printing,” says GPS, “but provides cost-savings with the ability to use true black (K) instead of composite black (CMY), which allows printers to print not just paper, but polyester film to produce digital- to-screen type transfers.” Paul Brook, director at GPS, adds: ”This is a real game-changer for a lot of companies looking to produce not only laser transfers, but also digital- to-screen transfers onto film cost- effectively and efficiently.” Contact GPS to book a demonstration on the Oki Pro 9541WT at its facility in Barnsley. www.globalprintsolutionslimited. com Insta Graphic Systems: Insta 256 Manual Swing-Away Heat Press Insta Graphic Systems says its Insta 256 Manual Swing-Away heat press offers “unmatched quality with even and heavy-duty heat and pressure distribution across the entire platen”. “The upper platen can swing almost 180 degrees to the right, allowing unobstructed access to the lower platen for easy loading of garments.” The Insta 256 includes the company’s Quick-Change feature that allows the lower platen to be switched out rapidly with any of the company’s new accessory platens that are ideal for customisation of pockets, sleeves or trouser legs. Cris Saunders, director of sales at Insta, explains: “The Insta 256 has been strategically designed for uncomplicated operation with consistently reliable results.” This includes the addition of a cast-in heater in the upper platen for even temperature distribution, and an adjustable opening for application on substrates up to 1.375” thick. The press also has a stainless steel handle for ease of handling and sweat-resistance, with a lightweight ‘H’ frame design that is said to offer full dressability front and back, and a self-lubricating back post that promises a smooth, clean and maintenance-free operation. Insta adds that its “time- proven pressure mechanism” is also capable of producing more than 4,000 pounds of force. www.instagraph.com Jester Prints: Digital Tuftran Transfers The latest addition to Jester’s range of transfers are the hot peel Digital Tuftrans, which combine a digitally printed, full- colour image with screen-printed Tuftran adhesive. “This makes smaller orders possible at realistic cost,” says Geoff Thorne, managing director of Jester, “and can provide full-colour tonal images or full-colour transfers with the look of conventional spot colour.” The Digital Tuftrans promise maximum detail, a very soft handle and exceptional washing capabilities. They can be applied to any number of garment types, as long as the user’s transfer press allows them to position the garment on the bed of the press and apply the transfer without encumbrances, such as Velcro, zips or seams. Jester’s transfers are ready-to-use straight out of the packet, and don’t require cutting or weeding. “In short, you could buy a stock of transfers with your chosen design and a stock of plain garments, such as shirts and bags, and apply each transfer as it’s required,” adds Geoff. “So no stock is tied up in printed, slow-selling sizes. You just print as you sell.” Also available are the spot-colour Tuftrans transfers, which are said to allow fine detail to be printed for both single and multicolour designs, and in Pantone- matched colours, without the need for a keyline or border of any kind. This makes them the ideal choice for school leavers’ print designs, he adds, and the company offers an artwork service where garment decorators can send a list of the pupils’ names as they would like them to appear in the transfer. Jester will then create the artwork and send back a proof for the customer’s approval, before making the transfers for decorators to apply themselves. www.jesterprints.co.uk M anu f ac t ure d i n German y , Fuchs heat pre s ses are distribut e d in the UK an d Ireland by Glo b al Print S o lutions The Insta 256 Manual Swing- Away includes the Quick- Change feature for easy garment loading Digital Tuftrans Transfers from Jester Prints promise full-colour transfers with the look of conventional spot colour
