INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 14 images OCTOBER 2019 Wilcom launches updated EmbroideryStudio e4.2 Wilcom has released the latest version of its EmbroideryStudio e4.2 software. The updated software is ready to download from the company’s website now, and includes the Design Workflow e4.2 software. Wilcom has also reported improvements to previously problematic elements of the software, and fixed the issues reported by users. These have included the unwanted removal of embroidery objects when switching from CorelDraw Graphics mode. While this problem has been resolved, said Wilcom, it may still affect files written previously to the current release, such as EMB files written in ES e4.1 or ES e4.2. These designs need to be saved and re-opened in the latest version of the software. If users have automatic download enabled on their devices, the latest update should automatically download when they launch EmbroideryStudio e4.2. www.wilcom.com 34.9k tweet impressions August 2019 @imagesmaguk The updated EmbroideryStudio e4.2 software is available to download now The Outdoors Company has appointed Sue Fells as its new business development manager. In her new role, Sue will be developing existing accounts and introducing The Outdoors Company’s (TOC) brands from the retail market, such as The North Face, Berghaus, Patagonia, Rab, Columbia and Helly Hansen, to companies who may not previously have been aware of their wholesale availability in the industry. Sue aims to establish TOC as the go- to corporate distributor of workwear, corporatewear and promotional apparel across a range of resellers, increasing the company’s visibility within the industry to bring about substantial growth. She said: “Over the course of hundreds of visits I have made to customers, the first questions I am usually asked are: ‘What have you got that’s different? Is there anything new?’ TOC’s offering is the next step for those resellers wanting to offer that something different.” www.theoutdoorscompany.co.uk Sean Barker has joined the AJS Embroidery Services sales team. The method takes just three minutes to produce a 10x10cm smart textile patch that’s waterproof, stretchable and readily integrated with energy harvesting technologies. The researchers say that this technology will enable graphene supercapacitors – powerful and long-lasting energy storage devices that are easily combined with solar or other sources of power – to be laser-printed directly onto textiles. Dr Litty Thekkakara, a researcher in RMIT’s school of science, said: “Our graphene-based supercapacitor is not only fully washable, it can store the energy needed to power an intelligent garment – and it can be made in minutes at large scale. By solving the energy storage- related challenges of e-textiles, we hope to power the next generation of wearable technology and intelligent clothing.” The RMIT researchers have applied for a patent for the new technology, which was developed with support from RMIT Seed Fund and Design Hub project grants. www.rmit.edu.au Dr Litty Thekkakara, RMIT researcher and co- developer of the new technology
