After learning that 2019 is SNAP’s 25th anniversary, TCTC decided that its fundraising challenge would be 25 sponsored runs across Essex and Cornwall. Richard King of TCTC has run over 600km in 2019, through a variety of mud, obstacle, half marathon and 5km runs. He took part in his 25th and final run for the charity on 26 September. www.snapcharity.org www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ cottontextileco www.thecottontextilecompany. co.uk Matthew Lynch Matthew Lynch, an early pioneer in the promotional apparel industry, passed away earlier this year. Matt joined Lynka of Poland as an early board member and first director of sales, and the company has issued the following tribute: Matt Lynch lived an extraordinary life, full of passion and adventure. He spent his first 25 years in the USA, living in New Jersey and Philadelphia, where he attended Drexel University. At 26, he moved halfway around the world to Warsaw, Poland, where he helped launch a successful business and was president of the Friends of Children’s Hospitals charitable foundation, which raised millions of dollars for Polish children. Matt joined Lynka in 1994 and played a critical role in the growth and development of the business. He was the first national sales director, launched Lynka’s expansion into Europe in 2004, and was a member of the board for more than 10 years. He was one of the true pioneers who helped make Lynka what it is today. In 2006, Matt joined Russell Europe as a country manager. There were times when he travelled to four countries in one week – he never complained because he loved the people, the various cultures, and of course the food and drink. Matt’s easy charm, ready wit and upbeat persona captivated all who met him: when he spoke, people listened – usually with a smile on their faces. At 51, Matt left us much too soon after a 24-month struggle with colon cancer. He refused to let his life be defined by the disease, and fought with dignity and great courage, never seeking out pity. He maintained his sense of humour and positive attitude until the very end. He was, and will remain, an inspiration to us all.
