INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 24 images APRIL 2020 David Luke becomes member of Ethical Trading Initiative David Luke has announced its membership status of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), which helps its members to “trade ethically and make a positive difference to workers’ lives”. The schoolwear supplier joined the ETI at the end of last year and hopes “to gain more insights into workers within our supply chain, develop a better ethical trade strategy, fully map our supply chain and commit further to responsible practices”. The company’s managing director, Kathryn Shuttleworth, said: “It has always been important to us at David Luke to do the right thing by our supply chain, and the longterm relationships we have had over many years with our factory partners mean we have been able to ensure high levels of trust and cooperation. “But joining a scheme like the Ethical Trade Initiative, it means we join a globally recognised organisation working for the good of all workers. It will help us apply best practice within our supply chain, and share all the good things that are achieved through our factories as the need for greater transparency of global sourcing grows.” www.davidluke.com UKFT launches new projects to support future talent in the fashion and textile industry The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) has announced the launch of two new projects to help support future talent in the fashion and textile industry. For its first project, Made It, the UKFT will work with five universities a year for the next three years in a campaign to “promote a better understanding of sourcing, production and the benefits of UK manufacturing to the next generation of buyers, designers and entrepreneurs”. The association will deliver masterclasses to second and third year students at the chosen universities, and will be offering five students each year a paid, term-long placement at a UK manufacturer. UKFT has also developed the UKFT Pop-up Factory and Careers Showcase, which will run at 30 major careers events over the next three years and aims to help address one of the major barriers to growth faced by UK manufacturers – attracting new talent into this vital part of the industry, explains UKFT. www.ukft.org The new UKFT Pop-up Factory and Careers Showcase will run at 30 major careers events over the next three years DecoNetwork 8.503 update now available DecoNetwork has released its latest software update 8.503, which introduces a number of new features: barcode order management; purchase order enhancements in batch stores; payment filters for quotes and orders; customer list enhancements; new team store capabilities; a new batch stores menu; and a new countdown widget that can be added to a store.
