We were constantly getting asked to supply team shirts for away trips and the club’s teams. Historically, we used to supply the garments and get them decorated at various local businesses. We were finding that the standard of the work was inconsistent and the lead times were getting longer and longer. This is when we decided to look at getting into the embroidery/garment printing side of the business. Due to the lack of experience we had we decided to go for the best machines we could afford. In our case we went for a Melco EMT16 in September 2019 as this was highly recommended and also used by Glenmuir, who are regarded as industry leaders in embroidered golfwear. This was a decision that I am really pleased that we made. Not only does the machine produce the finest quality embroidery, but the aftersales service and training have been second to none and allowed us to grow our business very quickly. What embroidery attachment did you buy? We purchased the Melco Fast Clamp Pro in October 2019 for £700 as it was the obvious choice for our machine. We needed the attachment as we embroider a lot of golf bag panels, head covers and shoes, which we simply cannot hoop. It has allowed us to take on a lot more work and paid for itself within the first month of having it! What tips do you have for using it? It is very simple to use and links to the software to ensure you are working within the correct areas of the bag panel or head cover. The key thing to remember when using the clamp is that you always close the arms before doing anything with the machine. Warning stickers on the device have saved us a few times! What would you say to others thinking of buying an attachment similar to this?
